摘要
The transmission limitations for high bit-rate amplified systems owing to a nonlinear effect known as modulation instability (MI) are presented. Experimental results for a 20Gbit/s 560km amplified system show a decrease in SNR of 8.5dB when operated 5nm into the anomalous dispersion regime, compared to 5nm into the normal dispersion regime.
