A review is given of the use of fresh donor semen for therapeutic artificial insemination. This includes a section on the legal, ethical, and psychological aspects as seen from the point of view of various cultures. Topics covered are the indications for donor insemination, the selection of donors, and the techniques in common use. The success rate is described together with the sex ratio of the neonates.
