摘要
Free radical-induced tissue injury has been implicated in the etiology of a number of diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory conditions, auto-immune disorders and cancer. On the other hand, essential trace elements such as copper, manganese, selenium and zinc are important constituents of enzymes concerned with the scavenging of these species and provide protection against free radicals-induced tissue damage. Various state of the art mechanisms of free radical generation and scavenging and their role in health and disease have been reviewed here. (C) 1993 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
