HOMEOPATHY: HISTORY AND FUNDAMENTALS

Homeopathy was founded in 1796 by German physician Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann and has the following fundamental principles: healing by similar experiments in healthy individuals, only one drug, diluted and energized. The objective of this study was to document, through literature review, the history, fundamentals and key features of Homeopathic Medicine. Homeopathy is considered a medical practice that recognizes the man as a whole and not parts. The homeopathic medicine is derived from all the kingdoms and the preparation of dosage forms to apply pharmacological three scales: decimal, proximate and fifty millesimal, following the methods Hahnemannian, korsakoviano and streaming. In Brazil, this therapy has been brought in the year 1840, by Bento Mure, being recognized as a medical specialty, the Federal Council of Medicine in 1980 and specialty pharmaceuticals, the Federal Council of Pharmacy in 1992. The ultra diluted doses of their drugs constitute the most important factor that hinders the recognition of this therapy by the scientific community. However, its clinical efficacy is well documented.
