摘要
This opinion piece is a reply to Katerina Gachevska's article which questions some of the ideas and concepts which I developed in a previous opinion piece entitled 'Italian organised crime in the UK' (Policing, vol 6, number 4, pp. 354-359). This opinion piece seeks to clarify and explain why 'invisible' criminal phenomena do not necessarily mean that they are not there. Perhaps, this strategy of 'invisibility' is a rational choice made by criminal groups in order to maximise their money-making opportunities without being detected?
