摘要
In the present work we go over the Spanish political and social circumstances in the second half of the 19thcentury, highlighting those that have a relationship or direct impact on military life, particularly war activity; a reality that helps to understand the great social injustice of the recruitment, which we analyse in its dimensions of greater social impact: the rules that regulate it, length of military service, bonds, exemptions and substitutions to end with some literary references contained in the works of two authors - Patricio de la Escosura and Leopoldo Alas, Clarin-, where the treatment given to these issues is verified.
