For the first time the occurrence of the fruit fly Anastrepha fraterculus (Wiedemann, 1830) in kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa) was registered in Brazil, mainly in the Hayward cultivar. The insect was observed in kiwifruit orchards in the mid-west and highland regions of the State of Santa Catarina, on February and March, 1992. The degree of infestation varied from 1 to 8 larvae, with an average of 5 per fruit.
