EFFECT OF THE VANDERWAALS INTERACTION ON HYPERTHIN SPLITTING OF THE IMPURITY ATOMS

A single analytical expression is obtained for estimating the effect of the Van-der-Vaals interaction on the shift of the constant of hyperfine splitting-for various types of impurities which do not come into covalent bond with the key atoms of the outer and inner surfaces of a solid. Computations are based on the use of perturbation theory. It is shown that the resulting effect depends on polarizabilities of interacting particles and distances between them. Application of the obtained expression to the impurity atoms of the I and V groups elements and to some matrices of inert and covalent crystals is considered. A comparison with experimental results is carried out.
