摘要：
The article deals with criteria for calculating and selecting plate heat exchangers as a part of the central process plant cooling system through which the plant fresh cooling water is cooled by sea water. The computer program for calculating the optimum heat exchangers parameters was made. The problem was reduced to defining the optimum average fluid velocity between the plates which resulted in the minimum total annual costs. The proper selection of plate heat exchangers can considerably decrease the investment and operation costs of the cooling systems.
