This investigation focuses on the evaluation of training activities, specifically on determining how effective and efficient they are. It was concluded from the research, that in Costa Rica most enterprises do not perform this kind of analysis, or at least they do not calculate the efficacy and efficiency of their training activities. Even though it is unwise not to determine or at least estimate what the returns of the training activities of an enterprise are, it was concluded that such attitude occurs frequently, and more so in those that are small. The methodology presented here has been developed to guide enterprises to evaluate their training activities, and to benefit from its results. It is easy to apply and sufficiently simple to extract the results required for determining the effectiveness and efficiency of training activities. In the practical application of the methodology it was found that the better the objective of the training is specified, the easiest the methodology can be applied. Activities with wide unclear objectives could only be barely approximated. Nevertheless, it is concluded that the methodology is useful, as it allows enterprises to determine whether or not their training activities are effective, as well as to estimate the economic efficiency of their investments.
