EFFECT OF GROWTH-REGULATORS ON PLANT-GROWTH AND SEED YIELD OF ZINNIA-ELEGANS RED MAN

The effect of soaking the seed for 24 hours or spraying the plant at different growth stages with GA3 (50-200 mg/l), GA4+7 (50-200 mg/l), NAA (5-20 mg/l), PP-333 (50-200 mg/l) and Sumi-7 (100-400 mg/l) on the germination, plant growth and seed yield of Zinnia elegans was examined. Gibberellins improved the germination of seeds. The plants obtained from the seeds soaked in NAA, GA3 and GA4+7 were taller, of better quality and started to flower earlier than plants from the other treatments. The spraying of the plants with growth regulators affected the plant height but did not influence the yield and quality of seeds.
