摘要：

This study carries out a compared reading of the relationships between identity, diversity and otherness in the thinking of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and Jose Carlos Mariategui. Firstly, it analyses the concrete problems which each author faces in their historical context. Then, it studies the way in which these authors conceived diversity and its relation to identity. Later, it examines the place that otherness occupies in the way that these authors construct identity. Finally, this article explores the new directions and projects that the authors are taking and their relationship to identity.
