Faraday effect measurement has been carried out for 30Tb(2)O(3) . 70B(2)O3 glass at room temperature. The magnitude of the Verdet constant is 0.838 min/cm . Oe at the wavelength of 450 nm. This value is large compared with those reported for other glasses containing trivalent rare-earth ions, The wavelength dependence of the Verdet constant is analyzed in terms of Van Vleck-Hebb theory.
