摘要
One of the promising materials in the sintered silicon nitride family is the sialon alloy series with yttria additives wherein the grain-boundary phase is completely crystallized by post-sintering heat treatments. In this report, the mechanical properties of a commercially available form of this material are evaluated at room and elevated temperature. An assessment is made of the success of this fabrication approach and an upper use temperature is determined. The present study was done as part of a ten year program to evaluate new and promising heat engine grade ceramics.
