HEAT-CAPACITY STUDY OF ACETYLENE ON GRAPHITE

摘要
ac calorimetry was used to study the melting of C2D2 films at submonolayer coverages. Near 131 K two sharp, closely spaced heat-capacity peaks indicative of a sequence of two first-order phase transitions are observed. The higher temperature peak is identified as melting. These results are compared with recent computer simulations which predict continuous melting for long nonspherical adsorbates.
