CA-2+/CALMODULIN-DEPENDENT AND PROTEIN-KINASE C-DEPENDENT SIGNAL-TRANSDUCTION AFFECT SEROTONIN UPTAKE IN RAT JEJUNAL ENTEROCYTES

摘要
In order to determine the properties of the intestinal serotonin (5-HT) transport system, we studied 5-HT uptake by villous tip cells isolated from the rat jejunum. Isolated enterocytes were capable of 5-HT uptake. This uptake appeared to be composed of two distinct processes. At low 5-HT concentrations, most of the uptake was shown to be a result of an active transport process. In addition, we found that this system may be regulated by both Ca2+/calmodulin- and protein kinase C-dependent signal transduction.
