Cataglyphis floricola is an ant species from the Southern Iberian Peninsula. It differs considerably from other species of the genus, mainly zoonecrophagous, because it collects a high proportion (77%) of plant materials (basically petals) and a much lower proportion (23%) of animal remains. When both are offered at the same time to foragers, petals are prefered to insects in 60% of cases. The possible use of petals as food in C. floricola colonies is discussed.
