THE SENSE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE UNDER CAPITALISM: PARADIGMS IN DEBATE

This article intends to make a discussion about the theoretical and conceptual paradigms that guide research in Agrarian Geography since the development of agriculture under the capitalism in middle of century XIX. I will search to understand the origins of the opposition: agriculture peasant x familiar agriculture that divides the researchers in agrarian geography. In this context we intend to present the arguments of those who think the peasantry as a remnant disappearing and family agriculture as the locus of economic development and those who understand the fight for the land as the only way to achieve the social development in rural areas.
