摘要
Introduction: Nowadays, obesity is considered an epidemic and is in a group of chronic noncommunicable diseases. The Ministry of Health reveal an increased prevalence of overweight and obesity in the adult population of 29% in 1975 to 63.7% in 2010. The primary treatment of obesity should include changes in relation to eating habits, lifestyle, physical activity and long-term food fix. Objective: To evaluate the influence of nutritional counseling on weight loss in adults. Methodology: We sampled adults, aged between 18 and 60 years, overweight or obese. Patients were followed up by a dietician for 4 months. The consultations took place every twenty days, and the orientation was individualized for each patient as needed. In the consultations, was measured weight, height and measurements (WC) and hip (Q). Analyses were performed by separating by gender. Results: analysis of 75 adults with a predominance of males, representing 64%. At the beginning of treatment, 43% of the population classified as obese. After 4 months of monitoring, the percentage decreased to 29.1%, including 10.75% of the population within the normal range, with p < 0.05. As for WC, there was significant reduction, while men reduced cardiovascular risk. Conclusion: The results show the importance of monitoring changes in nutritional standards of food in weight reduction and cardiovascular risk reduction.
