In this contribution we discuss briefly some experimental results of the mean dipole volume polarizability alpha(omega,T,rho) of some small molecules as a function of electromagnetic radiation frequency omega (dispersion), temperature T, and molar density-rho of the corresponding gases, which should be of interest in physics and chemistry of the atmosphere. Selected gases are the noble gases, the molecular gases H2, N2, O2, CO2, CH4, C(CH3)4, CH,OH, CF2Cl2, and the gas mixture air. A more detailed discussion including an extended list of references is given elsewhere [1].
