摘要：

This article describes design and construction of an element for the timing drive of a heavy duty diesel engine. A toothed coupling connects the injection pump to the timing drive. This important, formerly steel, component is now made from plastics. The tooth stresses have been calculated with F.E.M. analysis. Fatigue tests have been carried out directly on the engine at different loadings.
