摘要
Background. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is associated with considerable risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Objectives. Evaluation of the lipid profile and atherogenic index of plasma (AI P) in adult patients with newly-diagnosed, untreated OSAS. Material and methods. Simplified polysomnography was performed in patients enrolled in the study. Based on the results obtained they were qualified into the study group (when OSAS was confirmed, n = 62) or control group (n = 21). Results. The analysis of lipid profile revealed significantly higher TG level in the study group (p = 0.048), and a decreased level of HDL-Ch (p = 0.02). Significantly higher AI P values were observed in the study group (p = 0.03). Conclusions. The results obtained indicated that lipid disorders in patients with OSAS were present already at diagnosis. The group of patients discussed is characterized by a decreased level of HDL -Ch, increased TG level, and elevated AI P.
