摘要
A highly compact inductive recording element has been designed with a total width of 22 mu m. Using a combination of finite element modeling (thermal) and transmission line modeling (magnetic), this element has been evaluated in terms of the maximum held it can produce at the media surface. Maximum field is set by the point of head saturation or a limit on write current due to resistive heating of the coil, whichever comes first. Using this model, an evaluation of maximum held as a function of the heat sinking capacity of the head is given.
