摘要
In this work, the synthesis of a functional copolymer of methyl methacrylate and N-methylolacrylamide (NMA) in microemulsions prepared with Aerosol OT is reported. The effects of type of initiator and amount of functional monomer on the reaction kinetics were studied. The rate of reaction and final conversion increase as the amount of NMA in the parent microemulsions increases. Copolymer formation was verified by IR spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. IR spectroscopy also demonstrated that the functional monomer was incorporated preferentially at the beginning of the reaction, suggesting that initiation takes place in the aqueous phase.
