摘要
The theory of multiple electron transitions in atomic interactions is briefly reviewed. In general, two contributions are considered for transitions in systems with more than one electron: independent electron (uncorrelated) and multi-electron (correlated) contributions. In the simple independent electron approximation the correlation interaction between electrons is neglected. Including the electron-electron interactions is generally difficult and the interpretation of correlation mechanisms is generally not well established. Some effects of the interactions of electrons on two different atomic centers is understood and some understanding of the interrelation of scattering by photons and charged particles has been established.
