STATIC PROPERTIES OF BARYONS FROM AN SU(3) PSEUDOSCALAR VECTOR-MESON LAGRANGIAN

摘要
We study static properties of 1/2+ baryons in the context of the collective treatment of the SU(3) Skyrme model with vector mesons, which recently has provided a good fit to mass differences of 1/2+ and 3/2+ baryons. Special care is taken of fields which are excited by the collective rotation of the classical fields. We find that the electromagnetic observables approximately obey the predictions obtained from SU(3) symmetry. Strong deviations from SU(3) symmetry are found for the matrix elements of strange vector and scalar operators indicating a small amount of strangeness in the proton. The exploration of axial currents shows that the results of the EMC experiment may be explained with a small polarization of the strange sea of the proton without violating the successful Cabibbo model for semileptonic hyperon decays.
