摘要：
This is an essay on the statute of limitations concerning environmental damages in Brazilian Law. The relevant texts are examined hermeneutically. Finding support in comparative Law, the article shows that there is no immanent reason in environmental Law requiring the perpetuity of the corresponding claims. In opposition to the dominant doctrine in Brazil, which supports the idea that claims arising from environmental damages are not subject to any statute of limitations, this article presents the hypotheses, conditions and periods of the prescription.
