ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTERS FROM THE LOOK MEDIA

This article elucidate how the media tells and represents the imaginary of environmental disasters. For this, take as reference the results of dissertation research, which shows the construction process of the discourse of the newspaper Zero Hora (ZH) on climate change and, with the objective of broadening the debate on these constructions, extends the study, through a formal and discursive analysis, to the statements on this subject, which were front-page on news magazines Epoca and Veja. The analysis shows how symbolic forms are selected and used, and indicates that both the discourse of magazines such as the Zero Hora, is based on the same news values, selection and construction, where some facts are omitted and others highlighted as interests that underlie these discourses. It points out the relationship between these media representations and other fields, especially education.
