TRANSPARENT SURFACTANT GELS .2. POLOXAMERS AS STRUCTURE DETERMINING ADJUVANTS FOR COATINGS

In order to develop transparent surfactant gels with poloxamers as structure determining adjuvants, the ladder have to be water soluble. It has been proven, that the products P 65, PE 6800, P 123 and FC 127 are capable to develop "swinging-gels". These substances are characterized by rel. molecular weights of the polyoxypropylene-block of at least 1750 as well as a polyoxyethylene portion of at least 30%. As the three-component-diagrams show, the capability to absorb mineral oil in these clear swinging gels is very limited. It has been noticed, that the addition of glycerol or propylene glycol change the range of existence of the "G"- and "L"-phase in a characteristic way. Also the nature of the lipid components is important for their solubilized portion in transparent surfactant gels.
