摘要：

Efforts to manufacture lead/acid batteries in India commenced in the early part of this century; the requirements till then were met by imports. Organized manufacture on a significant scale really started after the Second World War. Expansion in both the product range and production capacity has kept pace with market needs. Today, the Indian battery industry exports nearly 15% of its output to different parts of the world.
