摘要
Simulating large-scale and complex systems is commonly considered a difficult task for parallel programming. This paper presents an environment for a hybrid of sequential and parallel discrete-event simulation (HSIM), which is intended for modeling hundreds of coarse grain simulation logical processors (coarse-LPs) executing on tens or hundreds of distributed processors. From the HSIM point of view, the simulated system comprises a collection of interconnected facilities. Each facility has a single queue and some number of parallel servers. A set of facilities which have heavy communications between them are grouped together to form a coarse-LP. Sequential and parallel simulation algorithms are used respectively for simulation inside one coarse-LP and synchronization between them.
