A field experiment was conducted during 1989-1991 in transplanted rice (Oryza sativa L.)-wheat (Triticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori and Paol.) cropping system, to find out the influence of practices followed in one crop on the weed flora of the other. For transplanted rice, anilofos @ 0.45 kg/ha and 0.60 kg/ha applied 5 or 10 days after transplanting as well as oxadiazon @ 0.50 kg/ha, butachlor @ 1.0 kg/ha and pretilachlor @ 0.75 kg/ha were found equally effective in suppressing weed growth and resulted in higher grain yield of rice. These treatments had no effect on weeds or the crop performance in succeeding wheat crop. Isoproturon @ 1.5 kg/ha and 2 hand-weedings proved equally effective for weed management in wheat.
