摘要
More than 20 carotenoids were present in the strictly aerobic photosynthetic bacterium, Erythrobacter longus. Two major carotenoids were found to be carotenoid sulphates. From spectroscopic and chemical evidence, their structures were determined as (3S,2'R,3'R)-3,2',3'-trihydroxy-beta,beta-caroten-4-one 3-sulphate (erythroxanthin sulphate) and (2R,3R,3'R)-beta,beta-carotene-2,3,3'-triol 3'-sulphate (caloxanthin sulphate). The M(r)s of the methyl esters of the carotenoid sulphates were determined by FD-MS.
