IN-SITU MOKE BEHAVIOR OF A CO(0001) ULTRATHIN-FILM DURING THE FIRST STAGES OF DEPOSITION OF A GOLD OVERLAYER

摘要
We have performed in the trilayer structure Au/Co/Au(111) precise measurements of the evolution of the polar Magneto-optical Kerr rotation (PMOKE) of ultrathin hcp (0001) Co films on an Au(111) substrate, during the first stages of deposition of an Au overlayer. A multilayer optical model describes the experimental data very well if an interface contribution x(0) is added to the linear dependence with the cobalt thickness. This interface contribution x(0) to is equal to 0.2AL for the vacuum/Co(0001) interface and 0.4 AL for the Au(111)/Co(0001) one for gold thicknesses larger than 6 AL.
