VEHICLE INTERIOR NOISE-CONTROL USING 3-LAYER COMPOSITES WITH POLYURETHANE CORES

Insertion loss results are presented for a series of small-scale tests on three-layered polyurethane cored systems. These systems are utilized in under-carpet treatments, and applied to vehicle floor pans. Experimental insertion loss values are compared for a number or configurations differing in material and system parameters. A theoretical approach is presented, with predictions showing good correlation with those obtained experimentally below 2 kHz. The small-scale test facility used to obtain the system insertion loss is also briefly described. © 1993 Academic Press Limited.
