STRUCTURAL ASPECTS OF FLUOROZIRCONATE GLASSES AND SOME OF THEIR PROPERTIES

The paper contains an RDF analysis of glasses in the ZrF4-BaF2 and ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3 systems and Raman spectroscopic investigations of multicomponent fluorozirconate glasses. On the basis of these investigations, a theory is presented of the structure of fluorozirconate glasses. Some physical properties were measured for the multicomponent fluorozirconate glasses studied (refractive index, density, coefficient of linear thermal expansion, infrared light transmittance and thermal properties). The results obtained form a basis for developing the technology for the synthesis of these glasses.
