摘要
Although the concept of 'globalization' is still a subject of scientific debate, it has been almost universally agreed that the development, expansion, and acceleration of globalization processes affect all economic sectors, signify major changes, and create a fundamentally new environment in which agents have to make decisions on production, distribution, and exchange. Production and trade of agricultural and food products are becoming increasingly globalized. However, global integration of agriculture in the form of trade is relatively selective and has different feedback effects on the agricultural development of different countries and regions. The topicality of the research stems from the fact that although Lithuania is widely open to the globalization and regional integration processes, the scope of research done in examining the impact of these processes on foreign trade is insufficient. Based on the main features of economic globalization and indicators of the effects of globalization on foreign trade of agricultural and food products identified during the research, the article has examined the impact of globalization on Lithuanian foreign trade of agricultural and food products. The study has shown that the increasing pace of globalization and regionalization processes increase foreign trade flows and the integration of the sectors in question into regional and world markets while the development of agro food industry is becoming inseparable from the foreign trade.
