INVITRO EVALUATION OF ANTISEPTIC ACTIVITY OF A TEAT DIP USING FRENCH STANDARD METHODS (AFNOR)

By now, the udder hygiene products, which are used for the prevention of mastitis in cows, are not controlled by legislation. Use of a test system based on the Experimental Standard T 72-300 (or T 72-301) towards the bacteria stipulated in Standard NF T 72-150, with 1 % V/V milk as interfering substance for a product ready for use, or with a mix of << 1 % V/V milk and 30-degrees-f hard water >> for a product to dilute before use, may be regarded as a minimal requirement for evaluation of a teat hygiene product prior to commercialization.
