DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A BIDIMENSIONAL PERFECTIONISM SCALE

The present paper aimed to develop and validate a bidimentional scale of perfectionism. Three studies were conducted with four samples of college students, most of them females. In the first study factor analysis was used to verify the two dimensions of the scale, and to obtain evidence of its validity. In an anagram solving task, perfectionists' predicted scores were significantly higher than those of non perfectionists. Moreover perfectionism scores positively correlated with planning and competitiveness scales. In the second the internal consistency of the engagement subscale was increased with some additional items and the scale factorial structure was tested. In the third, relations between the scale and evaluative anxiety, procrastination and fear to failure scales were found.
