摘要
Large-amplitude, long-wavelength Alfven waves in self;gravitating, magnetically supported clouds imply a linewidth-size relation (Delta upsilon)(wave) similar or equal to 1.4(B/30 mu G)(1/2)(R/1 pc)(1/2) km s(-1), where B is the mean magnetic field strength and R the radius of the cloud. This relation is in excellent quantitative agreement with observations of objects (clouds, cores, and OH masers) for which the nonthermal linewidth (Delta upsilon)(NT), the FWHM size R, and the field strength B have been measured.
