摘要
Charged particle beams are usually confined and guided by means of bulky electromagnets around the vacuum tube. An intense direct current in the symmetry of an infinite straight or circular curved vacuum tube creates a circular magnetic field of cylindrical and toroidal shape respectively, confining the charged particles travelling in the current direction. Charged particle trajectories resembling space twisted cycloids are obtained for a current ring, after solving the toroidal magnetic field numerically, neglecting the space charge effect. Calculations show the confining characteristics of such an arrangement which could be used for a straight and curved charged particles guideline.
