THE OPTICAL-PROPERTIES OF BAND-GAP-MODULATED DIAMOND-LIKE CARBON THIN-FILMS

摘要
Band-gap-modulated diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin films are shown to exhibit quantum confinement effects by the blue shift of the optical gap with decreasing quantum well width. The blue shift observed experimentally in the band-gap-modulated DLC thin films is shown to follow the variation predicted by a one-dimension quantum well model. Experimental C-V and I-V measurements also confirm the existence of electronic subbands in the well material.
