摘要
Rapidly solidified equiatomic TiNi ribbons for shape memory applications were produced by the chill block melt spinning technique under an argon atmosphere. The effects of rapid solidification and thermal treatments on the structure and transformation behaviour of the alloys were investigated. Some of the ribbons were crushed to produce pre-alloyed particulate and were consolidated by cold compaction and vacuum sintering. The martensitic transformation characteristics of meltspunt specimens are described in relation to the finegrained structure and the ordered state of the material. The proportion of porosity in pre-alloyed powder samples decreases during sintering, which is in contrast with that of specimens made from elemental powder blends.
