Article 1.1 of the German Constitutional Law contains the concept of the dignity of man as the fundamental basis of the whole of the constitutional framework of the German Federal Republic. This works provides a summary of some of the most significant problems and challenges that the legislature and legal science have to face up to in terms of the practical-legal development of this idea.
