STRUCTURAL STUDIES OF DIAMOND FILMS AND ULTRAHARD MATERIALS BY RAMAN AND MICRO-RAMAN SPECTROSCOPIES

摘要
Correlations between phonon Raman spectra and structure were established and illustrated with natural diamond, graphite, carbon, novel brilliants and novel ultrahard substances. Diamond-like film is characterized by a Raman band at 1540 +/- 20 cm-1 which differs from those of graphite and amorphous carbon. A new structure named "bridged graphite" or "diamite", with interlayer bonds is proposed for diamond-like material. A mechanism for the destruction of ultrahard coatings is also suggested.
