A new spiroindolenine 3H-indolo-3-spiro-4'(3',3',5',5-tetramethyl)-1'-cyclohexanone (1), and an interesting dimer of indole, 2,6-bis(3-indolyl)-2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanone (2) have been obtained from the reaction of indole with phorone in the presence of BF3.Et2O. The structures of these products have been settled on the basis of their PMR and C-13 NMR data.
