WATER SUPERSATURATION OF A POROUS-MATRIX TRIBUTYL-PHOSPHATE MEMBRANE DURING THE ELECTRODIALYTIC TRANSPORT OF IONS FROM HYDROCHLORIC-ACID SOLUTIONS

摘要
The transport behavior of water was studied in solvent membranes above the solubility limit. It was shown that the kinetic model of supersaturation of a surface layer of the organic phase that is based on the assumption of delayed rearrangement of the solvation sheaths of hydrated cations crossing the interface is unrealistic for the tributyl phosphate-hydrochloric acid system. It was proposed that a likely transport mechanism of excess H2O molecules into the extractant is their transport as part of the nearest neighbors of the Cl- ions, which is entirely unrelated to the rate of ligand exchange.
