摘要：

Background. The health services market in Poland after 10 years since the big reform took place changed much and currently it is already possible to reason out the direction of the new system development and the role of family medicine in it. Material and methods. Statistical data and literature were reviewed and family doctors were surveyed to build a basis to make general conclusions. Results. Primary medical care and family medicine, although they are the base of medical care system, are underfunded and paid in a wrongful way. Conclusions. Family doctors do not have enough time and financial means to improve their offices and competences. Family doctor - although he is supposed to - does not fulfill a broad spectrum of patients' medical needs, but in most cases he basically relays on specialists' consultations.
