摘要
In ethanol in the presence of [Rh2(OAc)4] and PEt3, 2-propen-1-ol (allyl alcohol) is hydrocarbonylated to a mixture of 1,4-butanediol and 2-methylpropanol; labelling and other studies indicate a mechanism for the formation of 2-methylpropanol in which key steps include protonation of an acyl intermediate by the solvent, dehydration of a bound hydroxycarbene intermediate, formation of a vinyl alcohol ria an eta(1-3) allyl intermediate, tautomerization of the vinyl alcohol and hydrogenation of the 2-methylpropanal so formed.
