Synthesis, material properties, and transistor performance of highly pure thiophene oligomers

摘要
The linear hexamer, tetramer, and octamer of thiophene have been synthesized by ferric acetylacetonate dimerization of the appropriate organolithium precursors, followed by extensive purification. On/off ratios and hole mobilities of these compounds in thin-film transistors are significantly higher than previously reported. In particular, a hexamer sample with on/off ratio > 10(6) and intrinsic behavior has been obtained, and the mobility of the octamer is unexpectedly high.
